About Bonk

A family game

Bonk is the card game I have played with my family for a very long time. We picked it up from someone they knew, and there the trail goes cold. Its original name and history are unknown.

It has evolved through repeated family games into the version played here: a quick, noisy race to make sets and straights, with a well-timed Bonk ready to change a turn.

Familiar, but its own thing

Players who know Rummy, Phase 10, or Liverpool Rummy may recognize familiar ideas in Bonk: drawing and discarding, wild cards, phased goals, and laying cards onto existing melds. Bonk combines those ideas in its own informal set of family rules.
